Medlin General Ledger Software
- Can I use my own Chart of Accounts?
- Yes. If you need a second auto expense account, for example, insert it after the existing account. We strongly suggest you do not make major changes to the chart of accounts until you have used General Ledger for a month or two (see next topic).
- Why do my reports not print correctly (or at all), now that I have edited the Chart of Accounts?
- The COA account numbers and account coding (the three single digit numbers) control how the reports are printed, including which accounts print on which report. Print the General Ledger manual, and compare the standard COA with yours. Look closely at the "Account Types". The account types must be in numerical order. If your COA has an expense account (type 6) mixed in with the income accounts (type 3), then the reports will not be correct. If you get stuck, fax or mail us a print out of your COA, and we will send it back with a list of the needed corrections.
- Tips & Tricks
- At the end of the year, print reports covering the whole year by selecting all of the periods in the "Periods to Print" list. A General Ledger report for the whole year is handy to keep in your files. Since this will be a long, multiple page report, you might want to set the font size to 8 point.
