Error Messages
- Error 6 - Overflow
- Usually means your data files have been damaged. Reinstalling the program will not hurt, but is unlikely to help. (When a program is damaged, it will not open far enough to get to an error message.) Most likely you will need to restore your data files from a backup or delete the data files and start over. Also can occur if you are using a pre-2000 version of Medlin with the Windows NT/ME/XP operating system.
- Error 7 - Out of Memory
- This is one of the few messages that does not require a translation into English. Try a hard boot (power off, then restart the computer). If a hard boot does not clear the problem, contact us. If you are curious about "computer" memory loss, search the Internet for "Windows Memory Leaks".
- Error 9 - Subscript Out of Range
- Similar to the Overflow error.
- Error 52 - Bad File Name or Number
- If using Medlin Accounts Receivable, reinstall the Accounts Receivable software. The invoice or statement layout file you are using has been deleted. A hard boot is the next choice.
- Error 55 - File Already Open
- Usually happens in a network environment. To prevent data from being mixed up, we lock the files so only one person can make entries at a time. In a single computer situation, try a soft boot (click Start, Shut Down, then Restart). If the soft boot does not clear the error, try a hard boot.
- Error 70 - Permission Denied
- Similar to Error 55. This error can also occur if the data files have been set as read only. If using a floppy disk, make sure the disk is not write-protected. If you are attempting to read data from a CD or DVD drive, restore the data to the hard drive first.
- Error 75 - Path/File Access Error
- Data files which have been set as "read-only". The solution is to clear the read only box in the file's properties.
- When copying or restoring data files: The Medlin restore process does not create folders. If the folder you are restoring to does not exist, you will see this error. The solution is to create the folder first, using Windows, then restore the data into the new folder. Can also be caused by data files which have been set as "read-only".
- If you have copied the files from a CD, you must turn off the read only property of the files after copying.
- The files are already in use. Trying to access the same files using two copies of Medlin will cause this error.
- This error can also mean there are problems with the drive or diskette where your data files are located. Run Scan Disk on the drive.
- I/O Error 30
- Usually happens when trying to install the programs from a diskette. It means either the disk or the drive is not working correctly. The solution is to download from our web site, or request another disk.
- I/O Error 100 - Disk Read Error
- Usually means your data files have been damaged. You can try Scan Disk, but it is probably too late to save your data. "Reading" is when the computer gets information from the disk.
- I/O Error 101 - Disk Write Error
- Similar to I/O Error 100. "Writing" is when the computer saves information onto the disk.
- I/O Error 150 - Disk is Write Protected
- Since new entries have to be saved, using a write-protected disk will cause an error.
- I/O Error 152 - Drive Not Ready
- If using a floppy disk for your data files, put the disk in the drive.
- I/O Error 154 - CRC Error in Data
- Similar to I/O Error 100.
- I/O Error 156 - Disk Seek Error
- This error means there is a problem with the drive. Have your computer checked by a qualified technician.
- I/O Error 158 - Sector Not Found
- Similar to I/O Error 100.
- I/O Error 160 - Device Write Fault
- Similar to I/O Error 156.
- I/O Error 161 - Device Read Fault
- Similar to I/O Error 156.
- I/O Error 162 - Hardware Failure
- Similar to I/O Error 156.
