· Before trying any other solution, delete, then reinstall the printer from Windows. This will
correct the majority of printer problems. To reinstall the printer software, follow the printer
manufacturer's instructions. If you are asked to replace existing files, answer yes.
· Try printing the same report to the screen. If the screen report is correct, then Medlin Payroll
is working properly and the problem lies with the printer setup, connection, or cable. Try
turning the printer off, then on again, and reprint. If you have access to a different cable and /
or printer, try those.
· If the printing looks like Greek writing, change the font to Arial or Times New Roman. If this
does not correct the printing, reinstall the Windows fonts.
Incompatible Printer Drivers
Medlin Accounting programs need to read the left and top printer margins, and in some cases the
paper length, to properly position the text on the paper or pre-printed form. A few printers do not
include the ability to perform these tasks.
Try installing one of the standard Windows drivers, from your Windows installation disk(s).
Examples are:
HP Deskjet (Color) - use the HP 500C driver
HP Deskjet (Non-Color) - use the HP 500 driver
HP Laserjet - use the HP Laserjet II driver or install the "PCL" version of the driver
Canon - use one of the more common drivers like the BJ 200 or BJC 600
Your printer manual may have a list of compatible drivers. Any driver which is on the Windows
installation disk(s), and is compatible with your printer, will do the job.
