False security warnings

Medlin Software does not contain any nefarious code, such as a virus or ad generating software.

From time to time we receive reports of security software falsely reporting our download as being dangerous. Security programs can reliably catch only known exploits - things which have already been discovered and made public. Security programs can also be set to "guess" at what a virus creator might do in the future (heuristics). Unfortunately, we have no control over what a security software vendor believes is a dangerous file.

Before every download, make sure you have updated your security software. Security software, at least the better ones, are updated at least once a day. If you still receive a security warning, then you will have to contact your security software vendor, and get them to fix their mistake, or help you bypass their security (making their service pointless...).

Not only are we certain our computers are "clean", before posting any file on our web site, we test the file against more than 50 security software programs, using a free site (which you can also use) called virustotal.com.

What can you do if you receive a false positive?
Update your security software's "definitions".
If only during installation, you can try temporarily disabling your security software while installing.
Report every false positive to your security software vendor and demand they fix their mistake.
Contact your security software vendor and have them assist you with indicating specific files you trust.
Contact your security software vendor and have them assist you with setting their software to not automatically remove files without first asking your permission.
